Because nothing exemplifies the love of Jesus Christ more than beating another human being completely senseless. That being the case, of course a church like Aviator Church in Derby, Kansas should mix the Word of God with Ultimate Fighting. Its like, a total no brainer.
This video features false prophet, Joshua Mills and others parading a simple parlor trick as a miracle when it is anything but an act of God.
Ironically, the Bible does mention gold dust. But, when it mentions gold dust, it is not a blessing or a miracle. Here's what the Bible says:
“Then Moses turned and went down from the mountain with the two tablets of the testimony in his hand, tablets that were written on both sides; on the front and on the back they were written. The tablets were the work of God, and the writing was the writing of God, engraved on the tablets. When Joshua heard the noise of the people as they shouted, he said to Moses, “There is a noise of war in the camp.” But he said, “It is not the sound of shouting for victory, or the sound of the cry of defeat, but the sound of singing that I hear.” And as soon as he came near the camp and saw the calf and the dancing, Moses’ anger burned hot, and he threw the tablets out of his hands and broke them at the foot of the mountain. He took the calf that they had made and burned it with fire and ground it to powder and scattered it on the water and made the people of Israel drink it.” (Exodus 32:15–20)
Below is a video of the "worship" segment of the most recent service at Elevation Church. This is the song by Rage Against the Machine entitled Bulls on parade. This song was sung to help kick off Elevation's new sermon series F-Bomb.
To their credit the folks at Elevation tried to clean up the lyrics a bit in an effort to "christianize" them. (The original lyrics to the song are posted below the video for reference) But the question still needs to be asked, what business do these types of songs have being 'performed' in a church service? God's Holy Word and His Holy Bride don't need gutter music and innuendo to make them relevant. In fact, adorning the bride of Christ, with these worldly methods makes her look like nothing more than a cheap whore.
We'd be wise to take a closer look at God's word and really come to grips with what James 4:4 means. It states, "You adulterous people, don't you know that friendship with the world is hatred toward God? Anyone who chooses to be a friend of the world becomes an enemy of God."
Come wit it now!
Come wit it now!
The microphone explodes, shattering the molds
Ya either drop tha hits like de la O or get tha f*** off tha commode
Wit tha sure shot, sure ta make tha bodies drop
Drop an don't copy yo, don't call this a co-opt
Terror rains drenchin', quenchin' tha thirst of tha power dons

They rally round tha family! With a pocket full of shells
They rally round tha family! With a pocket full of shells
They rally round tha family! With a pocket full of shells

It must be tough making those monthly payments on the church's jet when attendance at Fellowship Church is dropping and more and more exposé stories keep popping up on the local nightly news. But don't worry, if things look like they're about ready to crumble, Ed Young, Jr. can take it to a whole notha' level (or at least that's what he like you to believe).
Sportin' a new sleeve and trying desperately to make it look like he can flash gang signs like the boyz who actually did grow up in the hood, Ed Young, Jr. is now schilling for the heretical Hillsong gang. The only word that comes to mind is D E S P E R A T E . Is this Ed's 'night job'? We wonder what his rapper persona's stage name is. Maybe it's...InAuthentic...or...CoverUp...or...Narcissus.
Here's the way the math rolls on this video.
Old White Pastor + Rapper Costume + New Tattoos ≠ Authentic or Relevant
Old White Pastor + Rapper Costume + New Tattoos = Pathetic
In this video John Ortberg and Dallas Willard attack the Biblical Gospel and the Biblical teaching on grace and replace it with a false gospel and false doctrine of grace.
Compare what you just heard these two men say to these passages of scripture:
“Now we know that whatever the law says it speaks to those who are under the law, so that every mouth may be stopped, and the whole world may be held accountable to God. For by works of the law no human being will be justified in his sight, since through the law comes knowledge of sin.
But now the righteousness of God has been manifested apart from the law, although the Law and the Prophets bear witness to it— the righteousness of God through faith in Jesus Christ for all who believe. For there is no distinction: for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God, and are justified by his grace as a gift, through the redemption that is in Christ Jesus, whom God put forward as a propitiation by his blood, to be received by faith.” (Romans 3:19–25)
“And you were dead in the trespasses and sins in which you once walked, following the course of this world, following the prince of the power of the air, the spirit that is now at work in the sons of disobedience— among whom we all once lived in the passions of our flesh, carrying out the desires of the body and the mind, and were by nature children of wrath, like the rest of mankind. But God, being rich in mercy, because of the great love with which he loved us, even when we were dead in our trespasses, made us alive together with Christ—by grace you have been saved—” (Ephesians 2:1–5)
“For by grace you have been saved through faith. And this is not your own doing; it is the gift of God, not a result of works, so that no one may boast.” (Ephesians 2:8–9)
It's summertime and you know what that means...it means that if you attend a seeker-driven church your pastor can let his hair down and drop all pretenses of or appearances of actually being a Biblical preacher and he can instead preach about the latest blockbuster movies.
Of course movie preaching is done in the name of relevance and evangelism but none of these movies are Biblical and they can only convey the wisdom of the world. God's word has a thing or two to say about the world's wisdom vs. the Wisdom of God.
“For the word of the cross is folly to those who are perishing, but to us who are being saved it is the power of God. For it is written, “I will destroy the wisdom of the wise, and the discernment of the discerning I will thwart.”
Where is the one who is wise? Where is the scribe? Where is the debater of this age? Has not God made foolish the wisdom of the world? For since, in the wisdom of God, the world did not know God through wisdom, it pleased God through the folly of what we preach to save those who believe. For Jews demand signs and Greeks seek wisdom, but we preach Christ crucified, a stumbling block to Jews and folly to Gentiles, but to those who are called, both Jews and Greeks, Christ the power of God and the wisdom of God. For the foolishness of God is wiser than men, and the weakness of God is stronger than men.
For consider your calling, brothers: not many of you were wise according to worldly standards, not many were powerful, not many were of noble birth. But God chose what is foolish in the world to shame the wise; God chose what is weak in the world to shame the strong; God chose what is low and despised in the world, even things that are not, to bring to nothing things that are, so that no human being might boast in the presence of God. And because of him you are in Christ Jesus, who became to us wisdom from God, righteousness and sanctification and redemption, so that, as it is written, “Let the one who boasts, boast in the Lord.”
And I, when I came to you, brothers, did not come proclaiming to you the testimony of God with lofty speech or wisdom. For I decided to know nothing among you except Jesus Christ and him crucified.” (1 Corinthians 1:18–2:2)
So you folks attending seeker-driven churches that will be preaching on movies this summer can rest in the knowledge that your church will be relevant and entertaining but it will not be teaching you sound Biblical doctrine or the Wisdom of God. We wonder if this is what the Apostle Paul warned the church about in 2 Timothy chapter 4?
“I charge you in the presence of God and of Christ Jesus, who is to judge the living and the dead, and by his appearing and his kingdom: preach the word; be ready in season and out of season; reprove, rebuke, and exhort, with complete patience and teaching. For the time is coming when people will not endure sound teaching, but having itching ears they will accumulate for themselves teachers to suit their own passions, and will turn away from listening to the truth and wander off into myths.” (2 Timothy 4:1–4)
